Dear Dark Clouds - Shove It!
Submitted by theunconvention... on Wed, 07/07/2010 - 5:59pmI kind of can’t believe it’s been almost a whole month since I blogged about trying to be Superwoman and crying over desserts. I can honestly say I’ve made no effort what-so-ever in the past month to be Superwoman, nor have I recently cried over dessert. Although, I DID make a delicious low-fat cake last night – pshhh who needs cupcakes anyway? (Kidding – I need cupcakes … lots of cupcakes…). I digress. =)
I Left My Heart in San Francisco
Submitted by theunconvention... on Sat, 05/01/2010 - 4:42pmIn addition to my BIG dream of just simply GOING to California, my other dream (as silly as this may sound) was to ride a bike in California. =)
I really didn’t have any specifications about where to ride it, but I had to sing In the Summertime” by Mungo Jerry and just take in my surroundings. We rented bikes at the Bike and Roll and took an adventure! Our “little” adventure was going to be about a 10 mile bike for us but I was really excited – helmet and all.
As we started off near Fisherman’s Wharf, we got to go through all the different parts of San Francisco….up the hills, overlooking the bay, through the marina, down on Chrissy beach, and finally to the Golden Gate Bridge. It felt like ALL week we’d just seen it – from Coit Tower, Alcatraz, the Cable Cars, walking around the piers, and the bay cruise – so, we were most definitely excited that we were going to be ON IT!
In the land of trolleys, cable cars, bikes, and boats!
Submitted by theunconvention... on Mon, 04/26/2010 - 6:52pmWow. What a fantastic week in San Francisco! I’m honestly not even really sure where to start! I had been planning this trip since last summer…right after I knew about DrupalCon Paris. Knowing there was no way possible I was going to be able to swing Paris, I set out to attend the next one in San Francisco.
I’ve wanted to go to California my entire life and DrupalCon seemed like a great bridge to make that dream come true. When I was in high school, I wanted to move there to go to school but as a youngin’ =) I was convinced by many it wasn’t a good choice, so I passed up the opportunity. And as you can imagine, as the trip came closer and closer, my anticipation grew so big I could barely sit still the week prior to leaving.
I'm a pro at zipping!
Submitted by theunconvention... on Mon, 02/08/2010 - 7:34pmSo, last week, I asked you to do me a favor and go explore, and do something adventurous or new – so I’m here to report back with my adventures from last week! Over the weekend, I went ZIPLINING! Or… as the pro’s say, “zipping.” And I’m definitely a pro now soooooooooooo let’s start again.
I've been DYING to tell you about this

As some of you may or may not know, I am apart of a social network that revolves around the love of sports.
It first started off as a basketball group on Twitter, but quickly has turned into something bigger and better. It's turned into a social network and blog for the love of all things sports, healthy competition, and excitement. I've seen (and experienced) how females always get a negative wrap when participating or discussing sports, so our social network and blog were created for females and males who do not judge women who love to watch, talk, and participate in sports.
I am the master of justifying anything and everything.

Yep, I said it. Let me explain - I went to Target to buy a Christmas present for one of my friends. I ventured to the clothing section, saw some cheap shirts on sale – convinced myself I could NOT leave without them because I needed some new workout clothes. BAM - $20 later, new clothes and no Christmas present.
Okay, okay…this could also be known as a little disease called I AM ADDICTED TO SHOPPING.
Sooooo, for that purpose, I’m going to give you another example. :)
I am in love.

I am in love. Simple as that.

I was driving up to Gainesville early this morning and it hit me that it’s really Thanksgiving again. Wow. Seriously? I’m not sure how this year has flown by so fast that we’re already worrying about holiday traffic and planning what time to set the coffee maker for the day after Thanksgiving shopping. Or how we’re already figuring out what color hand turkey we’re going to make and eating ourselves to a complete food coma just in time to catch some afternoon football.

I had a completely different post ready for you today and then with the drop of a dime, or really the ring of the phone, I changed it. On this phone call, we were talking about purging. No, not the kind of purging because we ate too much at lunch, or had one too many M&M’s, but more so cleaning out the closets, sheds, kitchens, or anything else you can think of and just getting rid of it. Saying goodbye to old things that are just taking up much needed and valued space.
We've all heard this before, but listen a little closer this time.
Submitted by theunconvention... on Wed, 11/11/2009 - 7:19pmLast week, reality slapped me in the face yet again. Five people were injured and one person died in a mass shooting in downtown Orlando, FL (where I live!) I know that this sort of thing happens everyday, everywhere…hell that shooting happened in Fort Hood just the day before. Children are kidnapped and killed, three young softball players drive into a pond and die in North Dakota.
