The Universe is Working Diligently for You
Submitted by theunconvention... on Thu, 09/02/2010 - 6:39pm
Well, if you didn’t know by now, I got a new job. *HOORAY!* I’ve managed to work my way up to finding a full-time can of awesomeness where I get to do what I am most passionate about. All. Day. Long. It’s kind of weird to tell you the truth. I’m so used to doing a million and one different jobs everyday that when I’m left alone to create my masterpieces (modest much?) I’m left wondering why nobody is bothering me. Ha.
The Least You Need to Know
Submitted by theunconvention... on Wed, 05/05/2010 - 12:55pmI do NOT know how people who get migraines on a regular basis deal with that. For the past week, I’ve woken up every day with a headache and then proceed to get approximately 2-3 more throughout the day. =( I went through my normal list of why I could possibly be getting so many (no, Mom, my ponytail isn’t too tight) =) and I really can’t figure it out.
Drupal, Drupal, Drupal! My thoughts on DrupalCon San Francisco!
Submitted by theunconvention... on Tue, 04/27/2010 - 5:46pmThe sole purpose of my trip to San Francisco was the geeky (and awesome) DrupalCon! Drupal is an open source platform that allows you to build, manage, and organize content on a website.
I started using Drupal a little over a year ago when my boss told me to “build a website.” As my baby blues widened and out spilled “WHAT?” then “I don’t know how,” he quickly came back with “Google it.” After I had a mini heart attack, I took on the challenge, as I would with most things, and I started to learn about Drupal.
Considering my major in college was Marketing, most of my development work has been trial and error. Over the past year, I have kind of just put on my Drupal wings and soaked up as much knowledge as I possibly can, singing the Drupal song in happy moments and cursing it in dark moments.
The Guided Path vs. The Unguided Path
Submitted by theunconvention... on Tue, 04/13/2010 - 10:44pmWell, it is finally that time. I’m leaving for San Francisco this weekend to attend DrupalConSF and can I just say that I AM SO EXCITED! This is the FIRST official “cross-off” on my vision board for 2010 and I’m pretty proud of myself for sticking to my goals and MAKING IT HAPPEN. Not only will I be with my fellow designing and development geeks for a few days, but I’ll be taking some extended time there to enjoy and explore the city with my friends.
You got what you wanted

I think the last time I heard that saying was in a snarky "na-ne-na-ne-boo-boo" voice from one of my siblings. But last night I was chatting with my roomie/best friend/honorary sister/most amazing person ever -- telling her all my crazy stories of the day, when I realized...
I'm getting what I want.
Um...scary.
GOODBYE, 2009...HELLO, 2010!

I have to say, I am SO HAPPY 2009 is coming to an end. This year has been FULL of ups and downs, tears, laughter, love, friendship, and family, but I am ready to scoot 2009 out the door and wave hello to 2010. As we all know, its prime time to start making those New Year’s resolutions of dieting, working out, quitting smoking, planning to travel, or saving money.
I am the master of justifying anything and everything.

Yep, I said it. Let me explain - I went to Target to buy a Christmas present for one of my friends. I ventured to the clothing section, saw some cheap shirts on sale – convinced myself I could NOT leave without them because I needed some new workout clothes. BAM - $20 later, new clothes and no Christmas present.
Okay, okay…this could also be known as a little disease called I AM ADDICTED TO SHOPPING.
Sooooo, for that purpose, I’m going to give you another example. :)

I had a completely different post ready for you today and then with the drop of a dime, or really the ring of the phone, I changed it. On this phone call, we were talking about purging. No, not the kind of purging because we ate too much at lunch, or had one too many M&M’s, but more so cleaning out the closets, sheds, kitchens, or anything else you can think of and just getting rid of it. Saying goodbye to old things that are just taking up much needed and valued space.
I have the travel bug...
Submitted by theunconvention... on Wed, 11/04/2009 - 6:48pmAnd it really won't go away. I think I was first inspired when one of my most favorite bloggers just picked up her life and moved to Italy. Who does that? Unfortunately, I can't just pack up my bags and leave (yet) but there is one thing I can do - TRAVEL.
With lyrics or without? You decide.
Submitted by theunconvention... on Sun, 10/18/2009 - 11:10pmAs much as I love music with lyrics, I have to say that instrumental music holds a very dear place in my heart. Sure, song lyrics are absolutely amazing and sometimes the words are so eerily close to how you're feeling at that moment that it's scary. But if you think about a song, what really draws and keeps you listening? For me, it's not the lyrics. It's the incredible collaboration of the piano, guitars, violin, drums, flute, or any other instrument you can think of.
