Music Treat of the Week: Lissie
Submitted by theunconvention... on Sun, 08/29/2010 - 6:30pm
It feels like someone snapped their finger and the weekend was suddenly over! No bueno! Although it went by extremely fast, it was a pretty awesome weekend full of baby showers, seeing old friends, and silliness with Alexis to wrap it up. =)
I'm really excited to tell you about this week's music treat of the week - Lissie! This recommendation comes from my good friend, Ashley, who told me about this fantastic lady a few weeks ago.
The Best of the Best: Music Recommendations From You!
Submitted by theunconvention... on Mon, 08/16/2010 - 7:27am
Last week, I could not find ANYTHING in all 3,000+ songs on my iPod that I wanted to listen to. Weird, right? So anyway, I threw out a cry for help on Twitter and asked if anyone had any recommendations. Good gravy did I get some responses! Most of them I hadn't even heard of before but I know I wanted to share some. So, today I'm sharing the ones I liked best from all the recommendations. Let me know if you like any!
Have a great week!
Music Treat of the Week: Mumford & Sons

I most certainly cannot believe another weekend is coming to a close and the work week is here knocking on my door. However, thanks to my friend, Derek, I am excited to share some new music with you! I will confess, I have been listening to this album on repeat for about 5 days straight. It's pretty much like no other album I have in my collection, and as if you couldn't tell, I absolutely love them.

I’m trying oh so hard to get back into the swing of things today after a lovely 3-day weekend but I find myself relaxed and a tiny bit unfocused. =) My good friend, Moshe, sent me a text the other day telling me I needed to check out Xavier Rudd and I am so glad I did. This guy = amazing. And to me, perfect for any mellow, relaxing mood.
Music Treat of the Week: Two Door Cinema Club

After a nice relaxing weekend full of World Cup and trying to catch up on So You Think You Can Dance, I'm ready to swing back into the week!
So, I have a favorite of mine for you this week - Two Door Cinema Club! This fantastic group comes from THE #1 place I want to visit, IRELAND, and they've been on the music scene since about 2007. I find this next tidbit funny so I want to share. Their band name?
Music Treat of the Week: Efterklang

I had a nice relaxing weekend in a cabin at the springs! Ahh...yes...just what I needed! Laying out in our floats, making shapes out of clouds, laughing way too much, and enjoying lots of yummy food all got me in this mellow, relaxed mood which leads me to my recommendation for you this week - Efterklang!
Efterklang is from Denmark and has been on the map since 2004. Let me just say, their sound is like no other. From vocals to violins, to pianos to flutes, to trombones to guitar, it is such a unique sound!
Hurry up, let's go - I don't want to miss a thing!

This week's music choice is the Shout Out Louds! I first heard about them from Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist (I would recommend seeing it if you haven't yet). But with so much music going through my ears day in and day out, sometimes bands get lost in the shuffle (no pun intended ;) ) and I have to say the Shout Out Louds is one of those bands.

It's been a rather crazy week trying to get everything back in order from vacation. With all the crazy chaos of the week, I definitely am in need of some mellow, heart-felt, relaxing, and comforting music. This week I have in store for you a newbie to my iPod - Rebecca Correia!
She has been on the music scene for quite some time (seriously, how do I NOT know about these people!)
Now look back see how far you've come
Submitted by theunconvention... on Sun, 04/25/2010 - 10:39pmWow. What a fantastic vacation I had last week in San Francisco! I'm most definitely wishing I could have stayed longer. There just wasn't enough time to do everything!
Weird being back already - vacations always go by too quickly.
Anyway, while I'm trying to get back into the swing of things, I have some music for you that a friend recommended to me.
Introducing the Foals! This band comes from England and has been on the music scene since about 2008. They are a bit of indie, alternative, and pop all rolled into one. And to be honest, I haven't listened to them a whole lot, but I'm loving them so far. The Foals has some similar sounds as This Town Needs Guns, of which I love too.
Here comes a feeling you thought you'd forgotten
Submitted by theunconvention... on Sun, 04/11/2010 - 7:17pmStrangely enough, I thoroughly enjoy music where the lyrics don't really make any sense at all. There’s something about the uniqueness, quirkiness, and randomness that I just LOVE. Usually those funky lyrics come with pretty awesome beats and results in me dancing like a crazy person.
This week’s pick is most definitely unique, quirky, and funky. I’ve been hearing SO much about Vampire Weekend over the past week, I just felt like it was a sign to share them with the world.
This indie rock bank comes from the one and only, New York. Their most recent album, Contra, debuted this past January.
