With lyrics or without? You decide.

As much as I love music with lyrics, I have to say that instrumental music holds a very dear place in my heart. Sure, song lyrics are absolutely amazing and sometimes the words are so eerily close to how you're feeling at that moment that it's scary. But if you think about a song, what really draws and keeps you listening? For me, it's not the lyrics. It's the incredible collaboration of the piano, guitars, violin, drums, flute, or any other instrument you can think of. It's the hope, sadness, betrayal, happiness, disappointment, anger, love, and raw emotion that can be portrayed and felt without a single word even being said.

That is incredible.

I personally love instrumental music. I definitely couldn't pick just one song, so I hope you'll give them all a shot. And I'd love to hear any of your favorites! Please share!

I like to listen to this one when I run...

This one gives me hope...

And this one is my favorite...

What say you?

The movie Life as a House has an awesome soundtrack. The music is composed by Mark Ishan. One of my favorite instrumental songs of all time is the one called "Building a Family". I'm also a fan of the soundtrack for the movie Rudy. There's another song I hear all the time and I never know what it's called and so now as we speak I'm a little upset cause I wanna hear it but I don't have the darndest clue as to how I would even go about trying to look it up. But once I figure out what it's called I will def. let u know!

I've always found this topic interesting because almost 99% of the time there's someone with me (in my car for example) and instrumental music comes on I get a look as if they thought it was a mistake, or my playlist went crazy.

I probably have my mother to thank for my fascination, if you can call it that, for instrumental music. She has always been a fan of classical music and would play it really loud on Sundays (even while we were still asleep!).

Later I also became a big fan of movie scores and the first one I can remember right now is from the Back To The Future Trilogy (practically my favorite movies).

Some of the others, that are more recent, I can remember are from the Battlestar Galactica series (the new one), Lost, the new Batman movies, Iron Man, The Da Vinci Code, Transformers, 28 Days Later, Stargate, and some video games that pleasantly surprised me with great music scores (Mass Effect, the Halo series, and Metal Gear Solid 4).

I better stop... I think I just geeked out ;)

Good to hear there are still others that enjoy instrumental music!

You know, that is so funny because that car situation has happened to me so many times too! That's why sometimes I just don't get how instrumental music isn't appreciated more!

I think I have some stuff to look up though! I have a few from the new Batman, but Iron Man, Transformers, etc is definitely intriguing me!

And if you can "blame" your mother for this one, she's one smart lady!

Some of those scores are more "action-oriented", or upbeat... But good nonetheless!

Instrumental music is absolutely amazing. I definitely love it with movies. Honestly, if someone has a good enough score, it's possible they don't even need actual lines.

Every time I watch a good movie (drama, action, epic...comedy really doesn't fit here), I listen for the music. I usually can tell from the very first song if I'm going to enjoy the movie or not. There's just something about instrumental music that can tell you so much.

I think my number one favorite soundtrack/score is The Last of the Mohicans. I can listen to that any time. It always can affect me, no matter what mood I'm in. There's love, hope, sadness, pain, anger... pretty much ANY emotion you can think of...running through the music. Simply amazing. :)

I was wondering what your favorite was going to be...I guessed it was between The Last of the Mohicans and The Holiday.

I don't get how people don't like instrumental, but c'est la vie! Can't win 'em all :)

It is very powerful and very amazing.

Thanks for sharing!
